Tree Campus USA
With 14,000 acres located within the Adirondack Park, Paul Smith's College knows something about trees. So we're proud to be part of the Tree Campus USA program.
This program, launched in 2008 by the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota, recognizes colleges and universities that promote healthy trees and engage students, faculty and staff in conservation efforts.
Trees provide a range of environmental benefits to a campus. They help reduce pollutants in the atmosphere and improve stormwater management.
Like all of the 200 institutions participating in Tree Campus USA, Paul Smith's has met the following five standards:
- Tree-advisory committee
- Campus tree-care plan
- Dedicated annual expenditures for campus tree-care program
- Arbor Day observance
- Student service-learning project
