Courtney has been at Paul Smith’s College for six years. Throughout this time she has been a driving force behind the College’s comprehensive student support initiatives. As the coordinator of the early outreach efforts for the Academic Success Center she dedicates a great amount of her time to meeting one-on-one with students to provide individualized academic coaching. As the Director of the Academic Success Center, Courtney communicates daily with our faculty and staff to ensure the academic support programs we provide are meeting the needs of each and every student on campus.  In addition to providing leadership for the Academic Success Center and Career Services, Courtney is very involved with our Welcome Week and Summer Orientation programs. She supervises our student Peer Leaders and provides training to help them better engage our new students with the campus community and prepare students for the academic expectations of college. Courtney can also help students who are considering withdrawing or transferring from Paul Smith’s College.

Tracy coordinates the peer tutoring program and works closely with the director of the Academic Success Center. Tracy hires and trains our student peer tutors and SI leaders. She also schedules tutoring sessions for students seeking support and reports on outcomes and success rates for the program. Tracy helps develop team-building activities and provides supervision, guidance, and support to tutors. If you have any questions regarding tutoring or academic support, contact Tracy! She is happy to help.

Melinda works with students both as an Academic Success Counselor, as well as in the Math department. As an Academic Success Counselor Melinda works with students one-on-one to help them reach their full potential during their time at Paul Smith’s College. Meetings include helping students with setting both academic and personal goals, discussing time management techniques, study and organizational strategies, and how to have a healthy academic-life balance. Melinda also works directly with students in both the Academic Recovery and Transitional Programs on a weekly basis, as well as does outreach to at-risk students. Melinda’s other roles involve teaching a section of College Algebra as well as working as a Professional Math Tutor in the Academic Success Center.

As one of the ASC’s Academic Success Counselors, Maureen primarily works with students one-on-one to help them reach their academic, professional, and personal goals and realize their fullest potential at Paul Smith’s College. When working with students, Maureen focuses on goal setting, time management, study skills, organizational strategies, stress management techniques, and career planning. This fall, Maureen will also be working with students in the Academic Recovery and Voluntary programs, while also assisting with student outreach and teaching a section of First-Year Seminar.

OUR MISSION

To assist Paul Smith’s College students in achieving their academic goals by providing a variety of effective academic support options.

Paul Smith’s first established a peer tutoring program in 1985. Since then, we’ve grown to become a comprehensive academic support program. Each year, many Paul Smith’s students take advantage of the broad range of services we offer in order to reach their goals for academic success. Our caring and dedicated staff work closely with our faculty to provide the kind of support that will improve learning and classroom performance.
