Fish and Wildlife senior Jessie Gardner (Hudson, NY) won the Southern Vermont Invitational on September 26th in their incredibly hilly course in 22:40, winning by five seconds. Jessie took over the lead at about the half way mark in this 5K race and never let up. Gardner's win is the first invitational victory since the program's re-birth in 2003. Gardner was the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week this past week.

Then men's team placed second to Lyndon State, the teams best Invitational since the program's re-birth in 2003. Matt Piper (Morrisville, VT), Kyle Dash (Java Village, NY) and Ryan Turner (Herkimer, NY) all cracked the top 15, with 5th, 10th, and 15th place finishes.

Eight collegiate teams took part in the Southern Vermont Invitational at their picturesque campus in Bennington, Vermont.

Both the women's and men's XC Teams are ranked #1 in the Sunrise Conference for the second consecutive week. Next week's competition will be held at SUNY - Geneseo at Letchworth State Park.
