Coach's Corner- Men's Basketball
The Paul Smith's College men's basketball team lost it's third straight game to open the season on Sunday against Word of Life. The final score was 91-79 but the score does not tell the who story. At one point the Bobcats were down by as many as 23 and battled back to make a game of it late. Coach Akey comments after the game, "I am very happy with how the guys played today. We were down by 23 at one point in the first half and had the score tied at 68 with 5 minutes left. We shot 31 for 36 from the foul line but gave up too many looks from behind the arc (WOLBI made 14 3’s).
With 2 minutes left it was a two possession game and we missed a couple of quality shots. We had to foul at that point to extend the game and WOLBI hit their foul shots. It was a great team effort that came up short but it was a step in the right direction. We showed a lot of heart today, we just couldn’t get over the hump."
The Bobcat's return to action against for their first home game of the season Tuesday against Word of Life at 7 PM. The are preceeded by the women's game starting at 5 PM.
