The Paul Smith’s Men’s Basketball Team received high honors this week from the Sunrise Conference members. Steven Edwards was named Sunrise Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday. It is always an honor for the team to have a team member do well due to the collective efforts of the whole. This is the second time the team has been honored to have a team member named as “Player of the Week”. Steven joins teammate Ryan Hingston in being named as “Player of the Week” by the Sunrise Conference this season.

Steven averaged 31.0 points and 7.0 rebounds this week. The freshman guard from Queens, N.Y. scored 32 points against SUNY Morrisville and 30 points against Roberts Wesleyan College. Steven sank 12 3-pointers and shot 44 percent from the field and 83 percent from the free throw line in those two games.

I fully expect our team to continue to grow and develop as one cohesive unit as the season progresses. As team come and go, only those that learn individual success is the result of team success have a successful season.
