PSC Marathon Canoe Team Prepares for Early Season Events —

The Marathon Canoe Team has been heading to the Saranac River just off the Moose Pond Road for early season paddling in preparation for the early season events held in the St. Lawrence Valley. With the return of Matt Piper, Tony Lisella, Allan Powers, Matt Carmen, Elizabeth Quandt, Rand Snyder, Deanna Wisziewski, the program is off to a good start. Most of these paddlers have competed in the annual 90-mile Adirondack Canoe Classic, and all four of the members who won the Collegiate C-4 NYS title this past fall are primed for racing this spring.

In addition, there seems to be a number of new paddlers who are interested in paddling, and staying around through the summer months, when they can really develop their paddling skills and endurance. This is something that has been lacking in recent years with our student paddlers. It will be great to see how well things turn out in the Little River Race on April 18th in Canton, and then to see the improvements they will make when the race in the Canton Canoe Weekend two weeks later.
