PSC Men's XC Team Places Second at Southern Vermont Invitational Sophomore Kyle Dash (Java Village, NY/Pioneer HS) paced the Paul Smith's College Bobcats to a second place finish at the Southern Vermont Invitational held on September 25th. Dash finished the extremely hilly 8 km course in a time of 31:05, finishing in fourth place. Matt Piper (Morrisville, VT/People’s Academy) finished in 14th place with a time of 32:12, followed by freshman Ben Palladino (Tully, NY/Tully HS) in 32:26. Ben Howard (Sidney Center, NY/Sidney, NY) took 20th overall with a time of 32:48, while Senior Captain Jacob Dillon (Elbridge, NY/Jordan Elbridge HS) finished out the scoring runners with a time of 34:28, placing 31st overall.
Paul Smith's College had a total of 16 men entered in the race that featured thirteen collegiate teams and 103 finishers. Josh Grant paced the field with a winning time of 30:30, leading the Lyndon State College harriers to victory. Lyndon State won the event with a low score of 46, followed by Paul Smith's College with 84 points, and SUNY-IT (Utica) close behind with 89 points for third.
On the women’s side, Paul Smith's College didn’t field a complete team, but had four runners take part in the 5K women’s race. Freshmam Liz Havelin (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) placed tenth overall in 23:54 for a tenth place finish. Ashley Comeau (SR: Kingston, MA/Silver Lake Regional HS) finished in 24th with a time of 25:12, followed by Linnea Shumway (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) 26:36 in 29th place. Caitlyn Sparkes rounded out the field with a time of 36:32.
Mount St. Mary’s College won the women’s meet with 32 points, paced by Ashley Maurer, who won in 22:33.
The Paul Smith's College cross country teams will be heading to Cazenovia College next weekend for the Cazenovia Invitational.
