PSC Men's XC Team Places Second at Cazenovia College Invitational —

Sophomore Kyle Dash (Java Village, NY/Pioneer HS) paced the Paul Smith's College Bobcats men’s XC team to a second place finish at today’s Cazenovia College Invitational with a fifth place finish with a time of 28:40 over an extremely muddy course. Matt Piper (JR: Morrisville, VT/People’s Academy) finished in 13th place with a time of 29:46, followed by Ben Howard (JR: Sidney Center, NY/Sidney, NY) in 19th with a time of 30:00. Freshman Ben Palladino (Tully, NY/Tully HS) finished in 30:16 for 22nd place, while Dana Hazen (JR: White River Jct, VT) placed 24th with a time of 31:03, followed by Eric Kowalik (SO: Akron, NY/Akron HS) in 31:04. Josh Buchanen (FR: Central Square, NY/Central Square HS) finished out the scoring runners for Paul Smith’s College with a time of 31:09, placing 27th.

Paul Smith's College had a total of 18 men entered in the race that featured nine collegiate teams and 76 finishers. Alex Benway paced the field with a winning time of 27:28, leading the Clarkson University harriers to victory. Clarkson won the event with a low score of 28, followed by Paul Smith's College with 81 points, and Hartwick College close behind with 86 points for third.

On the women’s side, Paul Smith's College didn’t field a complete team, but had four runners take part in the 5K women’s race. Freshmam Liz Havelin (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) placed twelfth overall in 24:07, followed by Linnea Shumway (FR: Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) 25:50 in 31st place. Ashley Comeau (SR: Kingston, MA/Silver Lake Regional HS) finished in 33rd with a time of 25:54, followed by Sparkes who rounded out the field with a time of 36:59.

Ithaca College won the women’s meet with 25 points, paced by Allison Bartkowiak, who won in 22:16.

The Paul Smith's College cross country teams will be heading to the Cross Country Only Championships at Seneca Lake State Park in two weeks hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
