Bobcats Soccer Tallies Two Weekend Victories —

The Paul Smith's College Men's and Women's Soccer Teams each earned a conference victory Sunday, defeating the College of St. Joseph.

The Lady Bobcats won 6-0, led by a hat-trick from Freshman #7 Kara Nipper. Senior #9 Joelle Guisti, freshman #8 Ellie Matalavage, and sophomore #13 Alexa Cosgro each scored 1, and assists came from sophomores #2 Britny Town and #21 Rebekah Kruppenbacher, and from junior #6 Bridgette Bolduc. Goalkeeper Asenath Brooks recorded 1 save and her first shutout for the season. CSJ was only able to field 7 players, and the PSC women decreased their own numbers in a great display of sportsmanship to equal the sides. The victory brings their record to 1-2 (and 1-0 in the YSCC conference).

The men increased their record to 2-0 with a 1-0 victory early in the first overtime with a goal by freshman #17 Max Curtiss assisted by junior #25 Ryan Lawley. The play began with a corner by sophomore #4 Anthony Ventello. The Bobcat offense had a strong showing with 33 shots, while the defense held off a very physical CSJ attack. PSC controlled the ball most of the match with solid performances from starters and substitutes. Freshman midfielder #19 Alex Roache distributed the ball with precision and speed, and sophomore winger #23 Taylor Kerr made a strong showing off the bench, as did many others! Goalkeeper freshman Ryan Little had an outstanding performance, recording 5 saves and a shutout in his first collegiate appearance.

Both the men and women travel to Vermont Tech next Sunday, September 11. The men play their next home game Tuesday, September 13 against Clinton Community College. Watch for more news updates and home game announcements! Thanks for supporting the PSC soccer program!
