Fitness Program Descriptions

ADAPT

ADAPT, formerly Function Dynamics, was created in 1996 by professional trainer Brian Cassidy.  It stands for Athletic Development and Performance Therapy and/or Training.  This fitness strategy has helped numerous people of all ages on the West Coast realize greater athletic potential and experience improvements in their overall physical condition.

Routines are custom-designed to meet the needs of each individual, so all participants will benefit.  ADAPT works for the sedentary person who wants to be active, for the elite athlete aiming to prevent injury and maximize performance, and everyone in between.The ADAPT training system is a one-of-a-kind physical development program. It is one of the first training systems to incorporate under one philosophy the two worlds of physical therapy & rehab with performance training & athletic enhancement. The ADAPT system is an enjoyable and highly effective method of physical fitness training.  Fitness training uses flexibility, resistance, aerobics, and nutrition to provide increase strength, stamina and physical ability.  Each class will cover flexibility, resistance, and aerobic training, varying routines each class.  Abilities ranging from novices to athletes can attend each session as the instructor will establish routines, then work individually with each person.  

Kripalu Style Yoga

Come stretch and tone muscles, release chronic tension, de-stress, and refresh. Sooth your mind by calming restless thoughts, cultivate concentration, supporting mental clarity and confidence. Invigorate your soul through encouragement of self-acceptance. Honor inner wisdom and invite deep peace as you prepare for the semester. Clothes you can move in are necessary and water is recommended. Mats will be provided. No experience necessary.

 

Aqua Aerobics

Take advantage of the  Paul Smith’s saline pool through Aqua Aerobics! Excellent, fun-filled exercise for all abilities.  Utilize the facility in a way you may never have tried before and have a blast doing it. Learn how to tone and sculpt muscles with low impact activities. You will leave feeling refreshed and ready for more! No swimming experience is necessary as exercises take place in the shallow end. A bathing suit and towel are required, and drinking water is recommended.

 

Exercise Therapy

Held twice each week, this class focuses on individuals’ physical mechanics, improving muscular and aerobic fitness, and having fun through exercise.  The classes incorporate elements of Asthanga yoga, stretch, resistance training, and body alignment.  Classes use exercise balls, light weights, and mat/floor work (all provided.)    Correct knee/shoulder/back pain with proper muscle building.  Water bottles area recommended.
