Welcome Message

Welcome to the Division of Forestry, Natural Resources, and Recreation at Paul Smith's College. If you are interested in a career related to the outdoors and the environment, I can't think of a better place to start. Located on Lower St. Regis Lake in the Adirondack Mountains and surrounded by over 14,000 acres of college-owned forests, lakes, and natural beauty, we are positioned to provide the best natural resources education available anywhere.

Our programs are dynamic and diverse. We offer Bachelor of Science programs in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences; Forestry; Natural Resource Policy Management; and Recreation, Adventure Travel, and Ecotourism. In addition, we have Associate of Applied Forestry programs in Forest Recreation, Forest Technology, Outdoor Recreation, Pre-Professional Forestry, Surveying Technology, and Urban Tree Management.

We pride ourselves in experiential education, faculty contact, and student-centered learning in an environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and personal development. Our faculty, many of whom have extensive field experience, are dedicated to the challenge of helping to develop each student's potential. Our graduates are professional surveyors and arborists, environmental educators and backcountry guides, forestry practitioners and scientists, business owners and leaders.

Please take your time exploring the rest of our website and discover who we are and what we have to offer. Then arrange a visit - it's the only way to really appreciate what the Paul Smith's College experience is all about.

I look forward to the possibility of meeting you here at Paul Smith's, the College of the Adirondacks.
