Mills to serve as interim president
John W. Mills will serve as interim president of Paul Smith’s College until the search for his successor is complete.
E. Philip Saunders, chairman of the board of trustees, made the announcement Monday, June 30. “We appreciate Dr. Mills’ willingness to continue his distinguished service to the college,” Saunders said in the announcement.
Mills, whose official retirement as president has been effective since June 30, became the ninth president of Paul Smith's College on Jan. 1, 2004. He previously served as Paul Smith's provost and vice president for academic affairs. He is the second-longest-serving president of Paul Smith's College.
The college has engaged the search firm of Korn/Ferry to locate Mills’ successor, as well as a search committee comprised of college trustees, faculty and alumni.
