Thanks for Giving Day
As it turns out, there is such a thing as a free lunch.
Paul Smith's College celebrated Thanks for Giving Day Wednesday, March 12, by offing lunch to students, faculty and staff at the Lakeside Dining Hall. They flocked in wearing their favorite Paul Smith's gear to celebrate the event, which was held on the approximate day that tuition stopped covering the cost of a Paul Smith’s education, and the generosity of the college community kicked in.
That generosity is important since 98 percent of Paul Smith’s students receive some sort of financial aid. Donor scholarships play a significant role in the college’s ability to provide that aid. During the 2012-2013 academic year, more than 170 students were awarded donor scholarships, totaling more than $318,000. The college has approximately 80 named donor scholarship funds that were established through generous contributions by alumni, organizations and friends of the college.
