Dining Services

Sodexho operates all of the College's dinning services including the operation of the Lakeside Dining Hall and the Bobcat facility.

  1. Meal Plans Campus Dining Services offers meal plans for residential and commuter students. All residential students must enroll in a Meal Plan. Students must select their choice of Meal Plans within the first 14 days of each semester period, or be charged for the 19 Meal Plan.

The Paul Smith's College meal plan is designed to provide students with a diverse experience in both selection and availability. With the HRCM moving into the St. Regis Cafè, Sodexho is able to allocate more resources to the Lakeside Dining Hall by extending hours of operation and adding a fourth meal plan. Hours of operation will be provided at the start of each semester.

Students looking for additional information should contact the Campus Dining Services Office directly at 327-6311 or by email at sodexho@paulsmiths.edu

All meal plans include one guest meal pass per semester during the Fall and Spring Semesters (not Summer Semester).

Exceptions to this meal plan include those students who reside at the Saranac Lake Residence Hall. These students enjoy a flexible debit meal card that allows them to frequent local establishments. This card is pre-loaded and is used as a declining balance.

Commuter students are encouraged to participate in one of the following meal plans:
    • Any 5 meals
    • Any 5 lunches
Commuter students and visitors to the College may eat in the Lakeside Dining Hall and The St. Regis Cafè for cash or Munch Money also.

  2. Lakeside Dinning Hall ID Card
All students must show a valid PSC ID card at the door in order enter Lakeside Dining Hall. If an ID card is lost or stolen, it must be reported to Campus Dining Services immediately. A replacement ID card may be obtained by the student at the Campus Safety Office.

  3. Special Meals
Theme meals are provided on a regular basis, and to ensure that students are receiving services that adequate to their needs, the Food Service Committee of Student Government meets regularly with the Director of Campus Dining Services.

Students may request a bag lunch if they will be missing a meal on a regular basis because of class conflicts. Order forms are available at the Campus Dining Services Office in The Joan Weill Student Center. Students may also request individual bag lunches for college-sponsored events if arrangements are made 48 hours in advance.

  4. Sick Pass
Students who are ill may also receive a sick tray with authorization from Student Health Service. Authorization from Student Health Service is also needed if students require dietary needs or supplements or special diet items. A student will NOT be released from the obligation to subscribe to a meal plan unless the Dining Services absolutely cannot obtain the necessary dietary supplements and provides written notification to the student.

  5. Care pachages
Sweet Treats and Care Packages are available for special occasions. For further information, please contact the Dining Service Office or visit the College's website www.paulsmiths.edu, and click on Current Students, then Dining Services.

  6. Food Take-Out Policy
Lakeside Dining Hall is an "all you can eat" facility. Other than bag lunches and sick trays, food, beverage and utensils may NOT be removed from the Cafè without approval of the Director of Campus Dining Services.

To assure that meals are a pleasant and orderly experience for everyone, all students should respect the rules of the Dining Hall by taking their turns in line, bussing their own trays and being polite to staff and other students. The Buxton Cafe, St. Regis Cafè and Bobcat Cafè are all non-smoking areas.

Dining Services can be reached at 518-327-6311 or by email at Sodexho@paulsmiths.edu for further assistance or information.

Students will be notified of in a reasonable time frame should any changes in the hours of operation during the semester. This is likely around vacations or for construction issues. Notices will be posted on the College's website www.paulsmiths.edu.
