SSS Staff - Courtney Walton Born and raised within the Blue Line of the Adirondack Park, I am a fiercely proud Adirondack native who is glad to again call this place home. Originally from the Southern Adirondacks (Hamilton County) I grew up in the teeny town of Hope Falls - believe it or not folks it's smaller than the hamlet of Paul Smiths! Yea small towns!
I earned my bachelor's degree in English from Hope College in Holland, Michigan and also hold a master's of science in education with a counseling focus and an emphasis in college student services administration from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.
During my time at The College of Saint Rose, I served as judicial hearing coordinator, resident director, intern in The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, assistant to the director of parent relations, and helped to plan summer orientation programs. More recently I served as an admissions counselor here at Paul Smith's and recruited for the college throughout New England... (That's why I look so familiar right?) If you're a student from NH, VT, ME, CT, MI, OH, or MA I may have been the one who convinced you PSC was the school for you!
When not at PSC you might find me gardening, canoeing, quilting, baking, snowshoeing, spending time with my daughter, hiking with my husband...or just sitting in my ADK chair in the sun and reading. I also love to travel and have spent time in Mexico, Ireland, England, France, Switzerland, Italy and most recently West Africa.
Now as the new Academic Skills Coordinator in TRiO-Student Support Services, I look forward to working with students on study skills, time management, note taking, reading comprehension, test preparation, goal setting, stress management, English, writing and more! If you are a TRiO-Student Support Services student and are looking for the tools you need to succeed - I'm here to help!
