FAQs
Q. What happens if I get locked out of my room? A. Contact Campus Safety at ext 6300 or if calling off campus 518.327.6300
Q. How do I go about changing rooms, is it even possible? A. There is a 2 week room freeze instituted at the beginning of each semester. After the room freeze has been lifted please see the Housing and Operations Manager to discuss any available housing options.
Q. If I get a judicial summons, what do I do next? A. A judicial summons is sent to students who may be in violation of the Paul Smith’s College Code of Conduct. A summons does not mean you are automatically responsible for any violation; however, it does require you to schedule a conversation with the designated judicial officer to go over the alleged violation. The summons will contain all the necessary contact information for your specific judicial officer; as well as, the exact instructions you need to follow. The summons will provide you with the opportunity to claim “Responsible” or “Not Responsible” for the alleged violation. If you are unsure if you are “Responsible” please do not indicate that you are when you return your summons. You will be required to return the summons and schedule your judicial hearing by the date indicated within the summons itself. Failure to return the summons, or missing a scheduled meeting, will result in the case being heard without the benefit of your input.
Q. If I have a maintenance concern, who do I tell? A. We ask that you report any maintenance concerns immediately to either your Resident Assistant, Area Coordinator, or directly to the Residence Life or Housing Offices. In an emergency situation, you may also contact Campus Safety at 518.327.6300
Q. What if I loose my keys? A. If your keys have either been lost, stolen, or broken please see the Housing office immediately. The Housing and Operations Manager will explain any charges that may be added to your account.
Q. If I have a package, but I have class during mailroom hours, is there any way I can still get my package? A. Of course! Please see any of the kind folks within the Housing, Residence Life, or Student Affairs offices and they will help you..
Q. I was expecting a package, but it never showed up? A. Please report missing packages or mail to the Housing and Operations Manager. Please note that we do not have the ability to track packages that have not arrived to campus. Please be sure that all of your mail is addressed properly before placing orders or having information sent to you through your on-campus student PO Box. Please contact the Housing and Operations Manager for proper address format.
Q. What size are the mattresses in the residence halls? A. Except for some mattresses within the Upper and Lower St. Regis residence hall, the standard twin mattress size at Paul Smith’s College is 36 X 80. Residence Hall furnishings do not necessarily follow the mattress industry standard, in regards to terminology, and this mattress size is considered to be a “long twin” and are used throughout most college residence halls throughout the country. Please be sure that you bring sheets that can accommodate the 36X80 mattress size.
