The Career Services Office is open to all current Paul Smith’s students and alumni, faculty, staff and employers. We’re proud to report that nine out of 10 Smitties land a job in their field within six months of graduation. We can help you assess your strengths, choose the right major, find summer internships and develop a solid Career Action Plan. We offer free and confidential medical care for all Paul Smith’s students through Student Health Services, our on-campus medical clinic. Our staff nurse is assisted by a visiting physician and physician’s assistant to offer basic medical care for common illnesses and injuries, over-the-counter medications, reproductive health care needs, immunizations, tests and screening for mono, pregnancy and STDs, allergy serum administration, sports physicals, prescription drug processing and much more.
Counseling & Student Development
Positive personal growth and development is a central component of a Paul Smith’s education. Student Development Services is a comprehensive campus resource offering personal and small group counseling to address a variety of common concerns, including substance abuse problems, stress management, relationships and sexuality, eating disorders and more. All sessions are completely confidential. Visit the SDC in the Joan Weill Student Center, room 017, or call (518) 327-6358 for an appointment. In an emergency, counselors can be reached 24 hours a day by calling Campus Safety at (518) 327-6300.
The Campus Ministry offers non-denominational Christian worship on campus and through the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. We can also help you find local places to worship, volunteer and make friends in the community.
Advanced Studies for High School Students
Paul Smith’s is invested in the education and future of our Adirondack community. The Paul Smith’s Advanced Studies Program is a partnership between the College and regional schools to provide college-level coursework to high school juniors and seniors. All courses are developed by Paul Smith’s professors, but taught by high school faculty at participating schools. Course options vary by location, but include classes in business and accounting, English composition, calculus and statistics, biology and psychology. Courses are charged at $20.00 per credit hour and all course credit can be transferred to Paul Smith’s and most other regional colleges and universities.
