Paul Smith's College Sustainability

Zero-Sort Recycling

At Paul Smith’s College, we take recycling seriously! With zero-sort recycling, cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, and metal all get tossed into one bin. Just empty and rinse all containers and break down cardboard boxes! Recycling bins are fitted with blue bags as opposed to clear allowing them to be identified as they travel though the waste stream. Zero-Sort recycling receptacles are available in every building on campus and Casella takes care of the sorting at their state-of-the-art facility in Burlington, Vermont. We have student recycling representatives in all of our residence halls on campus that work to make sure recycling is done right!

STUDENTS: If your residence hall doesn’t have a bin, or isn’t properly labeled, please email the RA to put in a facilities request.

FACULTY/STAFF: If your office building doesn’t have a blue bin or isn’t properly labeled, please contact or contact the facilities office directly by ext. 6438

Student Activities collects e-waste through the Big Green Box program, box is located in the lobby of the Student Center.

Used Oil

Our culinary department stores all used oils, which is then picked up and recycled by Baker Commodities.
