Policies:
American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment – Paul Smith's College President John W. Mills was one of the first to sign this pledge to neutralize carbon emissions and lead the way on teaching students to improve society.
Energy Star appliances - Since 2007, all appliances and electronic equipment purchased by the college have met federal Energy Star guidelines. The college's Climate Commitment Committee initiated this policy, as well as the institution's commitment to construct only LEED-certified buildings in the future – which promises to be vitally important as fuel costs rise.
Campus Sustainability Fund – A $25 Campus Sustainability Fee, paid by all students, covers this fund, which provides over $22,000 for campus sustainability projects.
Committees:
President’s Climate Commitment Committee – Developing a carbon neutrality plan for the Paul Smith's campus; reconvened in 2007 by President John W. Mills.
Sustainability Council – Provides oversight and support of the college's goal of carbon neutrality, as pledged through our participation in the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.
