New Yorker staff writer Elizabeth Kolbert will discuss our changing local and global landscape at this event organized by the Adirondack Center for Writing. Kolbert's new book, "The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History," examines the possibility that a catastrophic extinction caused by humans is on the horizon.

The Palm Restaurant has been beloved by diners since 1926 – and a new student training restaurant at Paul Smith's College pays tribute to that legacy.
The Palm at Paul Smith's College, which opens Friday, June 28, features a menu inspired by the legendary Palm steakhouses. The college's culinary arts students will prepare steaks, seafood and other classic fare,while students in Paul Smith's hospitality management program will serve. Read more »
