Part I – Charles Bush, Writer, Ex-Mercenary

I met Mr. Charles Bush through a friend of mine. I had never met a mercenary. How often does someone meet a mercenary? I was curious and I wanted to learn more about him, his stories, adventures and misadventures. He wrote a book titled Project Chaos I am proud to introduce you to Mr. Bush.

Annie: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Charles: I am a citizen of this world, but I lived a different life than the average person. If people knew me under my real identity, I would not have been able to do what I did. The people who knew me were other brothers in arms from all over the world.  We always had different missions to accomplish, we couldn’t let feelings get in the way of the job.

Annie: Tell us about your book. What made you decide to publish it?

Charles: Too many things are hidden in the eyes of the world, too many private and wealthy organizations control the world. I knew that unveiling some of the missions I worked on would not please everybody. I know I would not change anything, but at least the world will know.

Annie: Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Charles: I am at peace when I write. However, I feel like I have no special merit to write about what I know and what I experienced.

Annie: Have you ever gotten reader’s block?

Charles: No, because I don’t consider myself a writer.

Annie: Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

Charles: I don’t have to be original, or extravagant: I share my experiences, my knowledge, lies and treasons that I heard and witnessed. The reader will either like it or not. Being transparent, honest, and open makes us vulnerable. Often, we get rejected by our friends and family when they learned who we really are or were. Indifference and loneliness has been an integral part of my life.

Annie: Do you think someone could be a writer if they didn’t feel emotions strongly?

Charles: I learned to feel and embrace emotions very late in my life, so I do not consider myself a writer.

Annie: Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

Charles: I plan on writing other books, about certain events, or of course, the secrets, trafficking in money, drugs, arms, etc. Several people or brothers in arms have accompanied me throughout my life, it is normal that some of those people are characters in my books.

Annie: What do you owe the real people upon whom you base your characters?

Charles: Each character is an imperishable memory in my memory whether it is good or bad. Every soldier will never return the child from his neighborhood, he will be forgotten by the world, but we will never forget.

Annie: How do you select the names of your characters?

Charles: The characters are people I met throughout the years, brothers in arms, people, who have crossed my way, for confidentiality purposes some names have been changed.

Annie: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?

Charles: I am not here to hide anything, of course, some people might understand better the implications in the story and the impact of them.

Annie: What was your hardest scene to write?

Charles: It is difficult to relive certain moments of our lives, but we must learn to be at peace with it. Nothing can change the past.

Annie: Does your family support your career as a writer?

Charles: Revealing our true identity is never easy. For family and friends, they see it as living a double life, which can be seen as a form of treason.

Annie: Anything you would like to say to your readers?

Charles: I will try my best to take you to other universes, through other countries, flirt with life and death, experience different regions where power or money dominate the world.
