About the Plan

In 2012, Paul Smith’s College President John W. Mills led the effort to make Paul Smith's a tobacco-free campus, convening a committee to explore the issue. Focus groups and open forums helped shape the ultimate policy, which was announced in December 2012.

The first phase of the plan – to restrict smoking and tobacco use to certain areas on campus – took effect in August 2013. By August 2014, tobacco use will be prohibited everywhere on campus and other designated properties.
