Paul Smith's a major player in North Country economy - 2011-01-26

Paul Smith's College generates nearly $64 million a year in economic activity, according to a report released Wednesday by the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities.

The findings were announced as part of a statewide survey that show New York's private colleges and universities provide work for 174,000 people, with a total payroll of more than $10.7 billion.

In the North Country, CICU found that Paul Smith's, Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University generate $563 million annually, and are responsible for 4,200 jobs and more than $208 million in payroll.
