Spring Weekend - final results! - 2011-05-02

"This past weekend marked the close of 2010-2011 Woodsmen’s season will impressive individual and team performances at the 65th Annual Spring Meet Woodsmen’s Conclave, hosted by SUNY Cobleskill.

The signature event of the weekend was the Stihl Timbersports Northeast Collegiate Challenge (to be aired on ESPN-U in July). For the 4th year in a row Paul Smith’s dominated this event thanks to Schuyler (“Hambone”) VanAuken’s flawless performance. Schuyler will be moving on to the Stihl Timbersports National Collegiate Championship in Salem, Oregon this August (to be aired on ESPN-2 in September). Congratulations, Schuyler!

Congratulations also goes to Caitlin DeGrave who finished 3rd in the Stihl Timbersports Northeast Collegiate Challenge (women’s division). Caitlin’s performance was topped off with a 1st place victory in the stock saw event.

Overall, Paul Smith’s team performances were impressive: our Men’s One team finished 2nd; Men’s Two, 3rd; Jack & Jill, 2nd; Women’s One, 2nd.

Other trophies taken over the weekend include:

Men’s One: Birling and Underhand Chop Champions; Men’s Two, Standing Block Chop Champions; Jack & Jill, Splitting, Speed Climb, Packboard and Crosscut champions; Women’s One, Splitting, Standing Block Chop, Canoeing and Bow Saw Champions. Congrats to all!
