Human Resources Update / Employee Return to Campus

To: Paul Smith’s College employees

Delivered: July 23, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

As we prepare for our students to arrive on campus, you may be returning from vacation or furlough and wondering if you are to report to campus and if so when.

The expectation is that employees are working from campus starting the week of August 3, 2020.   Paul Smith’s College is a residential college and to serve and educate our students requires our presence on campus.   We are committed to ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff understand the health and safety behaviors and actions required of us all.  The well-being of the PSC community requires each of us to make a commitment to maintain healthy personal habits and be courteous in protecting one another. These protocols are mandatory for all students, faculty, and staff participating in campus activities during the 2020/2021 academic year.  A central aspect is our collective Smitty Pledge to stay healthy and behave in ways to ensure your safety, students and fellow employees.  We are asking that all faculty, staff and students sign the Smitty pledge:

Our experiences working primarily from home since mid-March have varied.  I know many of us are eager to return and others have medical or family concerns or believe we are more productive in a remote office.  I am available to assist in situations where you may have concerns about returning to work.  For example, the College has had since 2017 a Flexible Workplace Policy . The specifics are to be coordinated between you and your supervisor with guidance from Human Resources.

Welcome Back,

Gwen Goodman
