Trails, Butterfly House and Front Desk Open, Naturalist programs running, building access suspended until further notice.

In accordance with New York State’s Phase 4 for re-opening and consistent with New York State Parks -The Paul Smith’s College VIC is currently operating as a day-use facility for property and trail access. Our trailhead parking lots, boat launches, and trail systems are open while the nature center remains closed.
There is no public access to the building at this time and until further notice, we do not anticipate opening the building to the public for the Summer 2020 season. Accommodations for accessing a restroom have been made by temporarily installing two portable toilets are located near the front of the main building.
Fresh, potable water is available at any operable external spigot around the main building.
You can download a trail map directly on our website, or by using mobile hiking apps including All Trails and Trail Hub. Paper copies of maps are available under the covered awning at the front of the building.
We are are taking reservations for our overnight lean-tos at this time at Black Pond, Little Black Pond and Long Pond.
Attractions including our Butterfly House will open July 6th. Visitor Services and Information will be offered at our ‘outdoor front desk’ located at the main entrance of our building will also begin July 6th. Summer Naturalist Programs will begin July 8th. Re-opening these services has requirements for staff and visitors alike.
Please do your part to keep NYS Parks and the places like the VIC open and accessible to all by: planning your visit ahead of time, practicing social distancing, utilizing sanitation and personal protective equipment for yourself and other visitors, and remaining patient.
