•Graduates must arrive by 10:00 a.m., at which time a short rehearsal will take place.

•The name cards, hoods, honor stoles and veterans cords will be distributed at this time.

•It is important that you also fill out a placement information sheet at that time.

•A continental breakfast will be available.

Caps and Gowns: Will be available for pick up in the Provost’s Office, Administration Building 205 during the week prior to Thanksgiving Break (November 17 – 21).   Hours for pick-up are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  If these hours do not meet your schedule, please contact or 518-327-6247.

There are no tickets required for admission and no limit on the guests you may invite.

Graduation/Participation in Commencement:

•Email invitations have been sent out to all students who are on the list prepared in the Registrar’s Office.  According to the official college policy, “Students who have completed the graduation requirements, or have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above and are within nine credits of completing graduation requirements, are permitted to participate in the ceremony.”

•If you did not receive an invitation, please check the list that is posted in both the Registrar’s Office or in the Deans’ Office in Pickett Hall.  If your name is not included in the list and you think it should be, please contact your academic advisor as soon as possible.

•Because the Celebration is held prior to the end of classes and final assessments, Grade Point Averages may change when the grades are finalized.  The “honors” indicated in the program are determined by the Spring 2014 cumulative grade point averages.

•Please understand that participation in the Celebration does not guarantee your graduation.  All graduation requirements in your program must be completed before you are put on the Official Graduation List.

Students who have been invited to the December event but who plan to attend the May Ceremony rather than December should still reply to indicating their intention to attend in May.

Financial Obligations: Graduating students are reminded to complete all financial obligations with the Student Accounts Office prior to graduation.  While all certified graduates may participate in the ceremony, some may not receive their diplomas because of unpaid balances.  Please check with the Student Accounts Office to ascertain the status of your account.

Hours are 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.    College Policy dictates that the graduation list must be voted upon by the Board of Trustees at the next Board meeting which will to be held in February, 2015.  Your diplomas will be mailed following the approval by the Board.

Reception: A post-graduation Alumni Reception will be held following the ceremony at the same location.   Meet your friends and their families and celebrate with your classmates, teachers, and staff.

Location:  The location of the ceremony will be Buxton Annex.   The parking lot behind the Saunders Sports Complex is the most accessible to the Annex.

We ask your assistance in determining with your son or daughter whether any financial obligations are still outstanding prior to ceremony, and for him/her to schedule a visit with the Student Accounts Office to clear those pending transactions.  Paul Smith’s College is anxious to cooperate in whatever manner necessary to assist you in these matters, and suggests that foresight will best serve the graduation process.  If you have any questions, please contact
