We have all sat and shamelessly played the game “Would you rather?” It usually happens at a party when that one loud kid (we all know who I’m talking about) gets a little too drunk and decides it’s time to get personal. But what would happen if we asked a bunch of random Paul Smith’s students to play it sober, tired, and recovering from Winter Carnival weekend? I spent a snowy Wednesday playing this exact game, asking students “Would you rather be in the shower every time there was a fire drill, or forget your towel every time you shower?”

Personally, I’ve been in both situations, and I can say I’d much rather be in the shower during the fire drill. Something about being naked in front of all my peers just doesn’t sound like a good time, but to others, it’s the exact opposite.

“I’d definitely rather just run to my room naked. I don’t care at all,” answered one girl.

“So if I forget my towel I can just walk back to my room after the shower and get it? I’d rather that over having to go outside bare-a** every day,” responded one guy who found a loophole.

“Well, this once I was in the shower when the fire drill went off and I went outside when it was negative forty degrees. Campus Safety finally let me hang out in their car when my muscles started tremoring. Never again.”

On the opposite (and better) team we had these explanations:

“Well, definitely fire drill in the shower. I would just finish my shower so it wouldn’t really affect me.”

“There are some seriously strange people in my building I’d rather not see me naked, so definitely be in the shower during a fire drill.”

While the results did surprise me, I am happy to report that my peers, your peers, have absolutely no problem baring it all. That being said, may you always remember your towel and never hear a fire drill while you’re showering.
