PAUL SMITHS, NY – Paul Smith’s College today announced the appointment of Theodore (Tade) Sullivan as its new Director of Major Gifts, beginning Oct. 6, 2025.

In this role, Sullivan will oversee the strategic direction and management of key donors and fundraising initiatives, helping to strengthen and expand philanthropic support for Paul Smith’s academic programs, student opportunities and centers of excellence. He will work closely with alumni, trustees, foundations and community partners to advance funding priorities that support the college’s mission and future growth.

A native of Malone, NY, Sullivan is proud to return home to the Adirondacks, a place that has shaped his values and sense of community. He brings with him more than 20 years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit leadership, guided by a deep commitment to strengthening communities. Most recently, he served as CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine, leading the state’s largest affiliate and helping the organization achieve record growth in both fundraising and program impact. His career has also included serving as Director of Development at Maine Maritime Academy and in senior development roles with the Boy Scouts of America. Early in his career, he worked in Washington, D.C., with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Senate.

Sullivan has raised more than $20 million throughout his career, including securing six- and seven-figure donations and more than $9 million in estate and planned gifts. His proven track record of building strong donor relationships and cultivating philanthropic support will be a tremendous asset to Paul Smith’s College.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tade back to the North Country and to Paul Smith’s College,” said Kathy Bonavist, Executive Vice President of Advancement and Enrollment. “His extensive experience in major gift fundraising and his deep personal ties to this region make him an extraordinary fit for our community. Tade’s leadership will help us grow the partnerships and philanthropic support that fuel our mission as the College of the Adirondacks.”
