Jorie Favreau

Jorie Favreau is the Dean of Curriculum at Paul Smith’s College. She served as the chair of the Natural Science Dept and is a Professor of Wildlife Biology in the Fisheries & Wildlife Science (FWS) program. She teaches science courses such as Animal Behavior, Techniques in Wildlife Management, and Natural History of North American Vertebrates. Her research includes radio tracking snowshoe hares in the Adirondacks to answer theoretical questions about foraging and movement behavior.

As chief academic officer, Jorie oversees accreditation and regulatory compliance, leads curriculum development and assessment, and ensures academic quality across programs. She supervises key areas including the Library, Registrar, Institutional Research, HEOP and TRiO, the Academic Success Center, and Accommodative Services. Jorie also manages academic policies, budgets, and appeals processes while partnering across campus to strengthen student learning experiences and advance community and belonging throughout the curriculum.

Jorie’s PhD is from North Carolina State University where she trapped and radio-tracked black bears in the mountains of North Carolina and investigated factors that affect animal movement. Her master’s degree, focused on conservation management, is from DePaul University. Her bachelor’s degree is in biology from Illinois Wesleyan. Prior to obtaining her PhD, she worked as a zookeeper in Chicago and as a field technician for a variety of organizations including the Institute for Bird Populations, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the U.S. Forest Service.
