Any student who has been admitted to a graduate degree program at Paul Smith’s College and is enrolled in at least six graduate level credit hours per semester may apply for a Graduate Assistantship.

Once accepted into the program, your job responsibilities as a Graduate Assistant will be fully outlined in the initial job description. Graduate Assistants fulfil a broad range of campus needs including teaching, coaching, student support services, or other campus duties. Graduate Assistants work 20 hours per week during each academic semester. Graduate Assistant positions are posted on Paul Smith College’s career webpage.

As a Graduate Assistant you’ll receive a waiver, which will cover 73% of tuition while you are holding the Graduate Assistantship. Tuition scholarships are subject to all appropriate IRS regulations and different conditions apply to international students. If you’re an international student please contact us for details on how to qualify.

While the College does not cover the cost of food, textbooks, insurance, course fees, or other student fees as part of the Graduate Assistant program, you will receive a stipend of $5,000 per semester for additional expenses. In addition, all Graduate Assistants are eligible for reduced rate campus housing for the semesters they are working for the college.

Applying to become a Graduate Assistant is simple. The first step is to reach out to us for more information through the Graduate Inquiry Form.

Once your application is received, Human Resources and the associated supervising faculty or staff member will coordinate a review of applications and an interview process.
