June 8-11, 2025
Join us this summer at Paul Smith’s College for the Inaugural Sugarbush Silviculture Research Symposium! This event will bring together the growing community of scientists, foresters, and sugarbush managers working to develop or refine silvicultural strategies for increasing the productivity, profitability, and resilience of sugaring operations.
The symposium will also include field visits to research and commercial sugarbushes in the Adirondacks and a maple-rich reception dinner prepared by students and chefs from the Paul Smith’s culinary program.
The deadline to submit abstracts is May 9, 2025 (link to form)
We encourage submissions of research projects at all stages of development and related to any aspect of sugarbush silviculture, including:
- Empirical sap and sugar yield studies
- Field trials of thinning or tending treatments
- Simulation-based modeling
- Economics of sugarbush silviculture
- Multi-objective sugarbush management
Publishing opportunity: Forest Science has tentatively agreed to host a special issue or section of papers presented at the symposium.
Registration information and preliminary program COMING SOON!
