Bachelor of Science / 120 Credits
Extreme weather events and other types of man-made incidents cause hundreds of millions of dollars in damage daily. Even worse, somewhere around the globe, these events take a life every 15 minutes.
Our Disaster Management and Response program equips students for preparing, managing, and responding to major crises. Choose from two concentrations – Response Practitioner or Analysis and Planning – that provide an invaluable global and local perspective on disasters.
You will develop in-demand skills such as GIS mapping and climate change adaptation, interact with local state and federal agencies, and gain invaluable hands-on experience in and around our campus in the 6-million-acre Adirondack Park.

At the end of the program students will be able to:
- Demonstrate fundamental knowledge and comprehension of the types, causes and impacts of disasters
- Apply the disaster management model in relevant circumstances; and develop a disaster management plan that addresses identified vulnerabilities
- Implement unified response to disasters and emergencies (both at the applied practitioner and management levels).
