Medical Referral

If the Nurse finds that a student has an acute need that cannot wait for clinician hours, then Health Services will contact the Saranac Lake Health Center on behalf of the Student to see if there are appointments available. If there is not, the Student is directed to go to Adirondack Health ER, or Mountain Medical Urgent Care. Transportation is the responsibility of the Student.

Appointments made at any other office in the area for specialty reasons, should be honored. Students who need transportation to an off-campus appointment may pay out of pocket for either of the following taxi services:

OR contact Health Services to arrange a ride with Campus Safety. Transportation through Campus Safety is not guaranteed. Students are encouraged to provide their own transportation arrangements for all medical appointments. If they are unable to keep the appointment, they should notify either Health Services or the specialty office as soon as possible.
